Sarah Reesor Ceramics
I graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Ceramics from Southwestern University, where I first fell in love with clay. I was fortunate to study under Texas artists Patrick Veerkamp and Chris Campbell, who helped shape both my technical foundation and creative curiosity.
After graduation, I found my way into the studio of Ryan McKerley in Austin, working as a part-time studio tech while developing my own body of work. In 2012, I moved to South Lake Tahoe, California, where I worked from my home studio and taught and fired at Ogres-Holm Pottery.
In mid 2020, at the height of the pandemic, my husband and I returned to Austin to be closer to family. I now work out of my home studio (also known as the garage) and fire both at Sunset Canyon Pottery and with with Ryan McKerley.
My ceramics are almost exclusively wheel-thrown, and I work primarily in Laguna B-Mix cone ten. I focus on functional ware, exploring the space where utility meets surface design. Underglaze painting and carving are central to my practice, and I often find that the rhythm of the process itself holds as much meaning as the finished piece. I am especially drawn to the space where functional and decorative ceramics overlap, and the way everyday objects can carry both purpose and pattern.
